Amidst the nostalgia of the D-Day anniversary are occasionally striking rememberances. The Guardian posted this photograph on its website today.

(Ah, for the moral clarity of WWII, when things were good and America was strong. These newfangled optional wars just aren't as much fun. That is, of course, if you leave out the messiness of the 60 million killed and the halocaust.)
