Notes on the Atrocities

The White House has its story and its sticking with it:

"We've always said that we do not assign operational control of al Qaeda to Iraq. That we do not have any evidence that Saddam Hussein had anything to do with 9/11. But you just have to look at repeated contacts between Iraq and al Qaeda over more than a decade. Saddam Hussein was one of the worst tyrants of the twentieth century."
--Condi Rice, NPR

"There clearly was a relationship. It's been testified to. The evidence is overwhelming. It goes back to the early '90s. It involves a whole series of contacts, high-level contacts with Osama bin Laden and Iraqi intelligence officials. The press, with all due respect, (is) often times lazy, often times simply reports what somebody else in the press said without doing their homework."
--Dick Cheney, CNN
